Don Arlelelle Eruca Fulgrouche (ドン・アルルエル・エルカ・フルグルシュ, Don Arurueru Eruka Furugurushu) is a powerful mob boss of the Alterworld and an obsessive fan of Prosfair. Being made out of various brains, and with the ability to bend space and time, Fulgrouche's skill in Prosfair is insurmountably high. Because of this, he grants favors to humans who win Prosfair endurance matches against him. The losers of the matches give the "remainder of their lives" to him, their minds incorporated into Fulgrouche's brains so as to continue playing the game against him until the end of their natural lives.
He is voiced by Shōzō Iizuka in the anime, and by Kenny Green in the English dub.
Appearance[]
Fulgrouche is a bulbous insect-like Beyondian with claw-like limbs wrapped in a black cape. Underneath the cape is his massive brain, surrounded by all the smaller brains he has taken from opponents who could not endure a Prosfair game against him.
Personality[]
One of the most influential and mysterious mob bosses in the Alterworld, very little is known about Fulgrouche, save that he is an avid Prosfair player and is willing to offer favors to anyone who can "entertain" him for a set period of time in proportion to the magnitude of the request. He is incredibly intelligent and incredibly resilient, with a quick and almost robotic way of playing Prosfair. He is able to play multiple games of Prosfair, which is complex it can kill unprepared players through strokes and aneurysms, simultaneously against his captive brains.
Despite his skill, he is not above using psychological tactics and hostages in order to control his opponents, such as arranging for Klaus to be present for his match with Korsakov Ulchelko, knowing Klaus offer himself to save Ulchenko when he lost. He then sabotaged his match with Ulchelko, and informed Klaus of Ulchelko's request to have him and K.K. killed in order to break him at the last second. Despite the dirty tactics he uses in their matches, he truly does consider Klaus something of a friend.
History[]
After the creation of Hellsalem's Lot, Fulgrouche made the acquaintance of Libra leader Klaus von Reinherz. Klaus would play four extensively-long games with the Don in order to gain information for high-risk cases, and only managed to leave the Don's home alive because he focused on dragging out the game rather than pursuing checkmate.[1]

A Game Between Worlds[]
Fulgrouche is contacted by both Klaus von Reinherz and Chess Grandmaster Korsakov Ulchenko to play a match with him in exchange for a favor. Seeing an opportunity to finally best Klaus, Fulgrouche set up the match so that Ulchelko would challenge him first, knowing the chessmaster would add the addendum that the Don kill Klaus and K.K to keep his presence a secret. He greets the two groups cheerfully and invites Ulchelko in first, who predictably asks for Klaus and K.K. to be killed in addition to asking for an supply of nuclear weapons to be given to his home country. Fulgrouche places the value of his request at ten hours, and during the last two minutes of the match, reveals his captive brains to Ulchelko and causes him to have a panic attack and be unable to play the game.[1]
After Ulchelko loses, Fulgrouche attempts to remove his brain in front of Klaus, who intercepts him with physical force. Fulgrouche offers to make an exception to his policy for Klaus in exchange for a ninety-nine-hour game, which Klaus accepts. As they begin to play, Fulgrouche agrees to also give Klaus all the information on distribution routes for Angel Scale should he survive the match.[1]
During the game, Fulgrouche casually reveals Ulchelko's addendum to Klaus with the intent of breaking his will. The plan backfires and Klaus manages to survive the time limit. The Don keeps his side of the bargain, and gives Klaus all existing information on the distribution of Angel's Scale, allowing them to wipe out the drugs presence in Hellsalem's lot in a single day.[1]

- Reality Warping: Very little is known about Fulgrouche, though his power and influence within the beyond is said to border on divine. This is evidenced by the special room he prepared in order to play Posfair, which diverts the law of space and time.
- Immortality: Fulgrouche is effectively immortal, though his exact life span is unknown. It is at least longer than 1200 years, as according to Ulchenko that was how long the Don has been playing Prosfair.

- There are hints in the manga that Fulgrouche is one of the occasionally mentioned Divines, a mysterious and poorly-understood class of Beyondian. If true, it would explain his ability to fulfill the seemingly impossible wishes requested of him by opponents.
